Clemens in trouble again

by Ryan Grindle

Baseball legend Roger Clemens is in hot water…again. This past week, the New York Daily News reported that Clemens has had an ongoing affair with country singing star Mindy McCready, who was 15 years old when they first met.
Three days later, McCready tearfully confirmed that the recent allegations were true.
Ever since the release of the Mitchell Report, the reputation of man who was once thought to be a first ballot hall-of-famer has diminished to almost nothing. At the moment, Clemens is being investigated for perjury by the FBI and is also involved in a defamation lawsuit against former athletic trainer Brian McNamee. The lawsuit claims that McNamee greatly damaged Clemens’ reputation. Up to this point, the Rocket had tried to prove to have a reputation as a “family man”. However, this story shows that this is quite the opposite.
Clemens’ attorney, Rusty Hardin, has said that McCready is in fact a longtime family friend of his client, but that the relationship was not sexual. Yet sources who had previously known of the relationship claim that she had never met Clemens’ wife
First off, the fact that somebody who claims to be a “family man” has allegedly had an affair for 18 years completely destroys that thought. What’s even worse is that a 28 year old celebrity started having an affair with somebody who was in high school.
Only half a year ago, Roger Clemens was set to walk off into the sunset and retire as one of the most respected baseball players of all time. Now, it looks as if this legend will instead be remembered as a cheater, in more than one way.
